Benefit of Personal Assistance from the Perspective of Users
SLÁČÍKOVÁ, Olga
The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part consists of four basic areas. The first is focused on the legislative definition of personal assistance, its types, what personal assistance actually entails, prerequisites for performing the work of a personal assistant, who is a user (client) of social services. In the second heading Maslow's pyramid of needs is described, the third heading is devoted to the elderly, the definition of old age and ageing, the division of old age, biological, psychological, social aspects, demographic aspects of old age and ageing and the specifics of communication with the elderly and the specifics of communication with the elderly with diagnosed dementia are described. The third strand concludes with a description of the needs of the elderly. The fourth strand concerns persons with disabilities. This section describes the specifics of each type of disability - intellectual disability, hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical impairment - and the specifics of communicating with clients with each type of disability. The last section of the theoretical part concludes with a basic definition of the needs of people with disabilities. The main aim of this thesis was to find out what the users of personal assistance see as the greatest benefit. A sub-objective was to determine satisfaction with the services provided. In addition to the actual benefits of the service and satisfaction with the services provided, the thesis also assesses the areas that users are not satisfied with and what their relationship is with the assistants who attend the clients. At the end of the interview, clients were able to give their opinion on personal assistance as such, or comment on its contribution to society. To carry out the research part, a qualitative type of research was chosen, it was carried out by the method of questioning and using the technique of semi-structured interview. The interviews were recorded with the permission of the clients, transcribed into written from and open coded. The target group were the clients of PROSAZ in Prague. The research showed that for each client, personal assistance, or its benefits, means something a little different, and the approach of men and women to this service also differed. Clients particularly valued the opportunity to live in their own home environment and the security of help with activities they were no longer able to do. In the case of men, the filling and the benefit were merged. In addition, women were glad for the opportunity to talk to someone. The research also showed that clients were satisfied with the level of service provided, but had reservations about the problem coordinator and telephone checks by assistants. Relationships with the assistants varied by gender: men had a neutral to friendly relationship with the assistants, they perceived the assistants as outside help and women additionally perceived the assistants as their grandchildren and thus their relationship was somewhat protective. Clients perceived the service as necessary, but undervalued by the public and politicians, and therefore undervalued financially.
The effect of the cash for care on the autonomy of adults with physical disabilities in parental care
Prager, Michal ; Hradcová, Dana (advisor) ; Synek, Michal (referee)
Through my work, I offer an insight into the lives of people with physical disabilities who depend on the help of another person. I reflect on their opportunities to live autonomously and what role care allowance plays in this. The Czech Republic has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which includes, among other things, the right to independent living. Through the stories of three people with physical disabilities, I show how this right can be fulfilled with the current system settings of the care allowance. How they can become independent of their parents. What other influences and actor-networks shape their reality and to what extent their life is autonomous in this reality. The care allowance is part of the Social Services Act, which itself greatly accentuates the individual approach. However, the care allowance does not reflect much on the individual needs of people reliant on the help of another person. In addition to this allowance, I also look at other actor-network - family relationships, technologies or accessibility of the environment. I explore how they interact with each other and how strong a role the care allowance plays in this interconnected network. If the current form of the allowance affects family relationships. Through critical social work, I...

The subsequent analysis of obtained data assessed what situations of the combined form of care most often lead to conflicts and difficulties. These include mainly miscommunication among the client, personal assistant and family, conflicts of interests, family disputes, domination, necessity to reduce the load on the family, and obtaining information on care.
